A few weeks ago I posted a section about why now is a good time for home buyers who are considering building to get their project underway. This post in a continuation of those comments for those who are in an existing home, but are not thinking about moving. As we all know, and as I already discussed, the housing market has been in disarray for some time now. As a result, there are many hard working contractors who are out of work. I'm sure we all hate to see anyone suffer and we do not want to take advantage of anyone. However, the current state of the housing economy presents a mutually beneficial situation for current homeowners in which they may be able to help the out of work contractors as well as themselves.
Current homeowners who have ever considered remodeling will never, I believe, find a better time than now to get their project started. There are many businesses who are anxious for work and homeowners can take advantage of their availability at less than normal prices. Homeowners will also find many builders and contractors who may not have performed remodels in the past due to lack of time, but who are now willing to take on those types of projects, providing their extensive knowledge of construction techniques and methods to any remodel, renovation, or addition you may have in mind.
